Journalists worldwide write about The DHS Program results. The dissemination of DHS, SPA and HIV data is often widely covered by media in survey countries, but journalists also use The DHS Program data throughout the year as background information for their stories, or to compare health and development indicators across countries. "Using data from Demographic and Health Surveys and from Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys, this new report from UNICEF analyzes trends in FGM between and within countries. 'FGM/C is a violation of a girl's rights to health, well-being and self-determination,' says UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Geeta Rao Gupta in a press release for the report. 'What is clear from this report is that legislation alone is not enough. The challenge now is to let girls and women, boys and men speak out loudly and clearly and announce they want this harmful practice abandoned.' "
