Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey shows a decline in childhood deaths and an improvement in malaria prevention

Abuja, Nigeria: The 2013 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) was released today in Abuja. The 2013 NDHS, the fifth DHS survey in Nigeria, provides the Government of Nigeria and international partners with reliable and up-to-date statistics on the health and welfare of the Nigerian population.

Second Kyrgyz Republic Demographic and Health Survey Shows Major Improvements in Child Survival
The Chairman of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic released the results for the 2012 Kyrgyz Republic Demographic and Health Survey (KgDHS). Demographic and Health Surveys are known as the gold standard in measuring national health, population, and nutrition status.

The Demographic and Health Survey Program-New Name Same High Quality In September 2013, USAID awarded the seventh round of the USAID-funded Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program to ICF International and partners. Formerly known as MEASURE DHS, the new project has a new name, The Demographic and Health Surveys Program or The DHS Program. The DHS Program will continue the same high standards of data collection, analysis, dissemination, and capacity strengthening which have been the hallmarks of this project since its inception in 1984. Maternal and Child Health in Pakistan is Improving

The Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey (PDHS) 2012-13 was released today at a ceremony in Islamabad that was attended by Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Saira Afzal Tarar, State Minister for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, and Richard G. Olson, U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan. The PDHS 2012-13 was jointly implemented by the Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination and the United States Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Data for this survey was collected from a nationally representative sample of nearly 13,000 households, and more than 15,000 women and 3,000 men between the ages of 15 and 49 years were interviewed.
