Abstract:

This report presents important trends in key population, family planning, and health indicators in Zambia over the past 16 years. The primary objective of putting this information together is to assist policymakers and program administrators in assessing the current situation in order to better formulate future population, family planning, and maternal and child health programs. In particular, the report addresses the prevailing demographic situation and describes trends in fertility, family planning, maternal and child health, infant and child mortality, and knowledge and prevalence of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
