The focus of this chapter is to describe the environment as it pertains to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in which women, children and men live. A distinction is made between urban and rural settings where many of these indicators usually differ.
In combination with Chapter 2 (Housing and Population), this WASH indicators are useful for assessing the level of economic and social development of the population.
