1) Percentage of nets not used the night before the survey, separately for ITNs (hml10_1 – hlm10_7 = 1), non-ITNs (hml10_1 – hlm10_7 ≠ 1), and all mosquito nets
2) Among mosquito nets that were not used by anyone the night before the survey, percent distribution by the main reason each net was not used, separately for ITNs, non-ITNs, and all mosquito nets
Coverage:
Population base: Total number of mosquito bed nets in all households (HR file)
Time period: The night before the survey
Numerators:
1) Number of mosquito nets in surveyed households that were not used by anyone the night prior to the survey (sum of hml10_i = 1 & hml21_i = 1 where i = 1 –7)
2) Number of mosquito nets in surveyed households that were not used by anyone the night prior to the survey by reason for not using (sum of hml21_1 – hml21_7 = 0 & hml24_1 – hml24_7)
Denominators:
a) Number of mosquito nets in surveyed households (sum of hml10_1 – hml10_7 = 0)
b) Number of mosquito nets not used by anyone the night prior to the survey (sum of any hml21_1 – hml21_7 = 0)
Variables: HR file.

Households with missing information on ownership of nets are considered not to own nets. Nets with missing information on type are considered not to be ITNs.
May be biased by the seasonality of the survey data collection. For ITNs, hml10_1 – hml10_7 = 1; for non-ITNs, hml10_1 – hml10_7 = 0; for all mosquito nets hml1. Some surveys collect information on more than 7 nets. Please check variable hml10_#, hml24_# and hml21_#.
An insecticide-treated net (ITN) is a factory-treated net that does not require any further treatment. Prior to 2018, this was known as a long-lasting insecticidal net (LLIN). See Changes over Time for this chapter.
