Percent distribution of women who report having or having had fistula symptoms, by reported cause of fistula and percent distribution of number of days after delivery that symptoms began

 

Definition

 

1)      Percent distribution of women age 15-49 who report having or having had fistula symptoms, by reported cause of fistula.

2)      Percent distribution of women age 15-49 who report having or having had fistula symptoms, by number of days after the cause that symptoms began.

Population base: Women age 15-49 reporting past or current experience of fistula symptoms (fistula_v1 = 1) (IR file)

Time period: Lifetime of the respondent

 

Numerators:

1)      Number of women age 15-49 who report having or having had fistula symptoms (fistula_v1 = 1) caused by (Note: country-specific response options and variables will vary. The categories below are included in the standard DHS Fistula Module):

a)       After delivered a baby (fistula_v3 = 1)

·         Normal labor and delivery (fistula_v4 = 1)

·         Difficult labor and delivery (fistula_v4 = 2)

b)      After delivered a stillbirth (fistula_v3 = 2)

·         Normal labor and delivery (fistula_v4 = 1)

·         Difficult labor and delivery (fistula_v4 = 2)

c)       Sexual assault (fistula_v5 = 1)

d)      Pelvic surgery (fistula_v5 = 2)

e)      Other (fistula_v5 = 6)

 

2)      Number of women age 15-49 who report having or having had fistula-like symptoms (fistula_v1 = 1) by number of days after the cause the symptoms began:

a)       0-1 day (fistula_v6 in 0:1)

b)      2-4 days (fistula_v6 in 2:4)

c)       5-7 days (fistula_v6 in 5:7)

d)      8+ days (fistula_v6 in 8:90)

 

Denominator: Number of women age 15-49 who report having or having had fistula-like symptoms (fistula_v1 = 1)
