Maternal mortality ratio in Pakistan still too high, shows report

DAWN (Islamabad, Pakistan)

"While the federal and provincial governments want to reduce the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) to 70 deaths per 100,000 live births by 2030, it currently stands at 186 deaths per 100,000 births, according to a survey launched on Thursday.

"Overall, 12 per cent of the deaths among ever-married women between the ages of 15 and 49 years in the past three years were due to maternal causes, says the survey report..."
