Abstract: The article reports on research which was conducted on HIV transmission among men and women in India. Researchers evaluated data from the Indian National Family Health Survey, which was conducted between 2005 and 2006. They found that women who are poor with household income below the national poverty line or who have had multiple sexual partners had an increased risk of HIV. They also found that women who have husbands that are nonmonogamous or who are sexually coercive have an increased likelihood of testing positive for HIV.
