Abstract: This article investigates the effect of education on discrimination against patients with HIV. The findings indicate that education is effective in reducing discrimination in the marketplace, but ineffective in reducing the shame of having an infected family member. HIV-specific education has a bigger effect on reducing HIV marketplace discrimination than years of schooling. No consistent pattern is detected between other control variables and attitudes towards HIV.
