Abstract:

The study of complementary feeding of infants in two sites in the Kumasi area of Ghana examined the interaction between mother and child among well nourished and malnourished children 3-18 months old. A combination of structured observations, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions were used to collect information from 91 mothers. Mothers with well nourished children had far more help from family members for child care than did mothers with malnourished children.
