DHS Health Data Mapping:
Online Course

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The USAID-funded Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) Program is searching for potential participants to take part in the DHS Health Data Mapping Online Course that will be held from April 12 to July 03, 2021.
 
The online course will focus on the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in public health, specifically using maps for better program and policy decision making. This course introduces participants to data concepts including management and cleaning of data in Microsoft Excel, using maps as part of the decision making process, introduction to GIS concepts, and hands-on introduction to QGIS (an open-source GIS software package). No previous experience with GIS software is required.  The course will be conducted in English.
 
Eligibility and Requirements
Interested applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Must live or work in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, or Togo.
  • Must have at least an undergraduate degree in public health, demography, statistics, monitoring & evaluation, or related subject as well as basic training in statistics.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate in English. 
  • Must be able to commit 2-4 hours a week for the course.
